The Sri Lanka Muslim Media Forum (SLMMF) is pleased to announce the successful completion of the ‘Sri Lanka New Generation Journalism Training’ Programme by a 10-member delegation of SLMMF members in Türkiye from April 20–24, 2026.
The programme was organized by TRT Academy, with the support of Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA), and facilitated in collaboration with the Embassy of Türkiye in Sri Lanka.
The training focused on emerging global practices in digital journalism, mobile journalism (MoJo), crisis reporting, and multimedia storytelling.
The programme combined theoretical insights with hands-on practical sessions, equipping participants with the tools needed to navigate today’s fast-evolving media landscape.
Participants also gained valuable exposure to newsroom practices at TRT and explored international standards in media ethics, verification, and storytelling.
SLMMF is of the view that the programme has significantly enhanced participants’ professional capacities, particularly in mobile-first reporting, digital storytelling, and ethical journalism practices.
Participants have already begun applying Mobile Journalism (MoJo) techniques within their respective media organizations and are expected to conduct knowledge-sharing sessions with fellow journalists across Sri Lanka.
SLMMF extends its sincere appreciation to TRT Academy, TIKA, and Dr Semih Lütfü Turgut, Ambassador of the Embassy of Türkiye in Sri Lanka, for their continued support and commitment to strengthening the capacity of Sri Lanka journalists.
SLMMF remains committed to creating more training opportunities for its members at both local and international levels, contributing to the development of a more skilled, ethical, and forward-looking media community.
